The Connacht Hotel and the wider Connacht Hospitality Group are so proud to continue our association with the Galway Races, that are in the pinnacle of Galway Hospitality calendar.

We are coming up on 10 years sponsoring Monday’s QR handicap, Ireland’s most sought after amateur race, and the highlight of the opening night of the Galway festival. 

Now more than ever it represents what we as a company value. The Connacht Hotel QR handicap is widely regarded as horse racing’s amateur Darby, showcasing diversity the best of up-and-coming talent.  With previous winners such as current RTE pundit Jane Mangan, who made history in 2012 as the first female jockey at the time as well as Katie Walsh and Aubrey McMahon and Jody Townend all going on to have fantastic careers.

As we in the hospitality industry pave the road to recovery, one of our key strategies will be to continue to develop and grow talent and diversity within our industry. 

Despite the fact that we will not be back to full racing numbers this year, we continued to be awed by the team at the Galway Races who against all the odds have kept the brand and the magic of the Galway Races alive.
